The Portage SWCD Tree Sale is a beloved tradition in the county. The sale provides an opportunity for Northeast Ohio landowners to purchase native plants at wholesale prices. Native plants are the foundation of the ecosystem that supports us: they help to clean our air, filter our water and keep our soil in place. Native plants even increase the pollination services of bees within a given area! Adding native plants to your landscape is an easy way to promote the conservation of our natural resources for future generations. Please consider supporting our conservation efforts by selecting a few plants for your yard.
2024 Ohio Tree Farm of the Year:
This year, the Ohio Tree Farm Committee announced Reclaimed Tree Farm in Cadiz, Ohio as the Tree Farm of the Year. Reclaimed Tree Farm, owned by Rob and Pat Davis, was nominated by ODNR Division of Forestry’s Service Forestry Central Region Manager Jeremy Scherf.
“It always amazes me what can be built with time, effort, love, patience, and hope,” said Scherf. “Rob and Pat have put all of that and more into Reclaimed Tree Farm. Their efforts have produced a remarkable tree farm that deserves recognition."
Reclaimed Tree Farm, the site of a former strip-mining, faced an uphill battle to get to where it is today. Challenges included soil conditions, heavy grass and weed cover, and an overpopulated deer herd. Despite all this, Rob and Pat were determined to try and try again to grow the successful tree farm they have today.

Pick up dates/time: April 16th - 18th, 2024 (Wednesday, Thursday & Friday), 9:00am – 6:00pm
Pickup Location: Portage SWCD office, located at 6970 OH-88, Ravenna OH 44266
Orders must be picked up on the scheduled pick up dates, otherwise refunds will not be guaranteed
Please mark pick-up dates on your calendar, reminders will not be sent out
Packets are reserved on a first come first serve basis - Order early if at all possible, we order from nurseries in the fall, so we may "sell-out" of popular species
For mail-in orders: Please enclose completed order form and check made payable to Portage SWCD
Please note the number of trees per packet- packets cannot be split
Due to varied weather and digging conditions, we cannot guarantee the availability of all listed plants.
